Where to eat in Vilnius
Choosing where to eat in Vilnius is not always as easy as it sounds. The city has plenty of options, but that does not automatically make the decision simpler. Some places work better when you want a quick and easy meal, others are better for dinner, drinks, Lithuanian food, or a coffee and pastry break while exploring the city.
When I think about places to eat in Vilnius, I usually focus less on what is the most fashionable and more on what I would realistically suggest depending on the situation. Sometimes that means a casual place I know is reliable, sometimes a family-friendly restaurant, and sometimes somewhere nicer for a celebration or a more special evening.
Rather than trying to list every possible restaurant in the city, I find it more useful to think about where to eat in Vilnius based on the kind of meal you want. That way, it is easier to narrow things down and choose a place that actually fits your plans.
This is not a definitive ranking of the best restaurants in Vilnius. It is a practical list of places I would actually consider depending on the situation, from casual meals and family-friendly options to Lithuanian food, drinks and something sweeter.
Best casual and budget-friendly places to eat
When I want a casual meal in Vilnius, I usually go for places that feel reliable rather than memorable. These are not the kinds of places I would choose for a special dinner, but they work well when I do not want to experiment and just want food I know I will enjoy.
I often end up at places like Grill London or Manami. What these places have in common for me is that they are easy, uncomplicated, and good for a simple meal without much planning.

In the case of Grill London, I also like that you can build your own meal by choosing the parts of it yourself. Manami is a place I choose more occasionally, usually when I want something Asian-inspired but still casual and easy.
I would say these are the kinds of places that are useful to know if you want something affordable and an easy option rather than a meal that feels like part of the sightseeing experience.
Family-friendly places to eat
When I think of family-friendly places to eat in Vilnius, I usually mean places with a wide menu, enough choice for different tastes, and food that also works well for kids.
In that sense, places like Čili Pizza, Can Can and Charlie Pizza are some of the easiest options. Even though they are pizza chains, they also serve plenty of other food, so it is usually not difficult to find something for everyone. They also tend to have a broad range of drinks, including teas, milkshakes, and other non-alcoholic options, as well as children’s menus.
If you want something that feels a bit more fun or visually impressive, Talutti is another option I would mention. My first impression when looking at their menu is always that everything looks very tempting – from waffles and pasta to pizzas, burgers, and milkshakes. The portions are also quite big. I would say it works well if you want something that feels a bit more exciting, even though, in my experience, the taste itself is not necessarily what makes it stand out most.
Bebro blyninė is a more specific kind of place. As the name suggests, it is really about pancakes, so I would think of it as an option when that is exactly what you are in the mood for.
Bars in Vilnius where you can also eat
When I go out in Vilnius with friends in the evening, we usually choose a bar rather than a restaurant. In that kind of situation, I am not really looking for a full meal. It is more about drinks, a good atmosphere, and some snacks or small dishes to share.
The place I probably go to most often is Craft&Draft, near Cathedral Square. I like the atmosphere there, as well as the beer selection and the snacks. Two things I especially like are the cheese balls and the pig ears in sweet and sour sauce.

I would also mention 7 Fridays, which is another place I like for the atmosphere, the snacks, and the fact that they have one of my favourite beers. Būsi trečias is less about food variety for me, since I would not say it stands out because of the snacks or dishes. The main reason I go there is for their flavoured beer cocktails, which feel a bit more distinctive.
Places like Šnekutis and Alaus namai are also useful to know if you want somewhere you can both drink and eat. Šnekutis is somewhere we sometimes go for lunch with colleagues, and of course it is also the kind of place where you can have beer or kvass. Alaus namai is worth mentioning for its wide beer selection, although the food there is also good.
Nicer places for dinner or drinks
When I want something a bit nicer in Vilnius, it is usually because there is a reason for it — a celebration, a more special evening, or simply the mood for better cocktails, nicer presentation, and a more polished setting than an everyday casual place.
In that kind of situation, I would think of places like Carré, Alchemikas, Grey, or Meat Lovers. What matters to me here is not just the food itself, but the overall experience. At Carré, for example, the giant cocktails are the main thing I associate with the place — they are expensive, but definitely make an impression, which is why I would choose it for something celebratory. Alchemikas is more about very good cocktails and the experience around them. I especially like that the bartenders help people choose something based on their preferences, and even small details like bringing and refilling water make the place feel more thoughtful.
Grey stands out to me because of the atmosphere and the location. It is in a very convenient spot near Cathedral Square, and if you choose your table well, the views make the whole experience even better. It is also the kind of place where the menu feels varied enough for different kinds of visits, whether you want proper food, a dessert, or just drinks. Meat Lovers, meanwhile, is the kind of place I would think of when the food itself is a bigger part of the plan, especially if the main craving is meat rather than cocktails.
Where to try Lithuanian food
If you want to try Lithuanian food in Vilnius, places like Šnekutis, Etno Dvaras, Bernelių Užeiga, and Katpėdėlė are some of the most obvious options. I see them as places that make sense when Lithuanian food is what you are looking for, rather than places I would choose for a very specific atmosphere or experience.
What I would focus on more in this case is the food itself. Lithuanian cuisine has a few dishes that visitors often want to try, such as fried bread, potato pancakes, cepelinai, and pink soup. If that is the kind of food you are curious about, these are the kinds of places where you can order it.

There are still some small differences between them. Etno Dvaras feels more focused on Lithuanian food, while Katpėdėlė can work better if someone in your group wants a more varied menu. Bernelių Užeiga on Pilies Street stands out a bit more because of the interior, since the basement setting with stone walls makes it feel more distinctive.
If you are around Pilies Street, it makes sense to look at what is closest and most convenient, especially because that is one of the areas where these places are near each other. In other parts of Vilnius, I would simply choose whichever one fits your location best.
International cuisine in Vilnius
Vilnius is a good city for international food too. Besides Lithuanian restaurants, you can find different European cuisines, Japanese restaurants, Indian and Thai food, burger places, Mexican food, and many other options. That also makes the city quite easy for travellers who want variety and do not want every meal to revolve around local dishes.
I am not trying to cover every cuisine here, because that would quickly turn into a separate guide.
So if you are visiting Vilnius and do not feel like eating Lithuanian food all the time, you will definitely have plenty to choose from. In this part of the guide, though, I am only mentioning the kinds of international food I would be more likely to suggest myself. These are the cuisines I personally tend to choose more often and the ones I feel more comfortable recommending from my own experience, especially if someone wants a break from Lithuanian dishes but still wants a place that feels worth trying.
Chinese restaurants
Chinese restaurants in Vilnius can vary quite a lot, and there are many of them. If you simply want Chinese food, you will usually find an option without much difficulty. For me, the more important thing is not that one place would be dramatically more special than all the others, but that some places simply feel more dependable once you have tried a few.

That is how I think about places like Eat More Chinese and Cheng Long. I ended up noticing them for different reasons, but both became examples of Chinese restaurants I would return to when I want something familiar and do not want lunch or dinner to feel like a gamble. In one case, it was a place I got to know well through ordering food at home. In the other, it became the place that stood out most after trying several lunch options near the office.
For me, that is probably the most realistic way to approach Chinese food in Vilnius. There are many places to choose from, but once you find one that feels consistently good, it makes sense to remember it.
Italian restaurants
If you want Italian food in Vilnius, you can of course find pizza or pasta in many different places. The ones I mention here are simply the options that feel higher quality to me and better suited to a nicer lunch or dinner rather than just a quick casual meal.
Places like Da Antonio, Firenze, and Osteria da Luca all fit into that category, but not in exactly the same way. Da Antonio and Firenze feel more elegant and a bit more luxurious to me, both because of the interiors and the overall atmosphere. They are the kinds of places I would think of for a celebration or another occasion when you want more than just food — also good service, a cosy setting, and nicely presented dishes. Da Antonio especially feels like a place for a festive dinner rather than a simple meal out.
Osteria da Luca is different in mood. It still feels like a good-quality Italian restaurant, but more relaxed and less formal. I would think of it as a very cosy place for dinner or an easy evening out. The menu is also quite big, especially if you want pizza, and I think Italian lemonades go particularly well with the food there.
Georgian restaurants
If you want Georgian food in Vilnius, both Gruzinų Namai and Chačapuri are worth knowing. I think of them mainly as places to choose when that is the kind of food you are specifically in the mood for, because in both cases the food is good.
Gruzinų Namai feels more like a restaurant, with a beautiful setting, a calm atmosphere, very good service, and tasty food. It is the kind of place that can make the whole meal feel a bit more special, especially if you want something that feels closer to a full restaurant experience. Chačapuri, on the other hand, feels more like a bistro. It has several locations in Vilnius, and while it is less restaurant-like in atmosphere, that does not stop it from being a good place to try tasty Georgian food.
For me, the main difference is less about the food itself and more about the kind of setting you want around it.
Bakeries and dessert places
Sometimes in Vilnius you do not need a full meal at all. A bakery or dessert place can be enough for breakfast, a coffee break, or something small to take away during the day.
For simple pastries, baked goods, and drinks, places like Prezo and Crustum are easy options to keep in mind. Since both can be found in different parts of the city, they are convenient when you just want coffee and something baked without planning too much in advance.

If you want something that feels less everyday and a bit more special, then Ponių laimė fits that mood better. It is the kind of place that feels more elegant and atmospheric, not just somewhere to quickly grab dessert. It is also worth noticing from the outside, especially during the Christmas season, when the decorations tend to be particularly impressive.
Final thoughts on where to eat in Vilnius
The best answer to where to eat in Vilnius really depends on what kind of meal you want. Some days you may be looking for something quick and easy, while on others you may want Lithuanian food, a family-friendly place, a cosy dinner, or just coffee and something sweet between sightseeing stops.
That is also why I think it makes more sense to choose based on the situation rather than look for one single “best” place. Vilnius has enough variety that you can find something that fits different moods, budgets, and plans.
My advice is to start with the kind of meal you want, then choose the place. Vilnius has enough variety that you do not need one perfect restaurant – you just need the right place for that moment.
